TeraWulf achieves 5.5 EH/s milestone as bitcoin miner seeks to scale

TeraWulf ( NASDAQ: WULF ) drove up its bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) mining capacity to 5.5 exahash per second (EH/s) after the completion of Building 2 at its Lake Mariner facility in New York, the company said Thursday. That's up from 4.4 EH/s at May 31, 2023. It started mining bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) at the Lake Mariner facility in March 2022 and, with the completion of Building 2, now has 3.6 EH/s of operational mining capacity. The facility sources grid power in Western New York, where more than 91% of market energy comes from zero-carbon resources, primarily hydro and nuclear. WULF started mining at the Nautilus facility, a joint venture with Cumulus Coin, in February and deployed its full share in phase one of the facility -- 1.9 EH/s -- in April. “Our two sites were strategically developed with expansion potential as a key characteristic. Everything from our power import capacity to the layout of our warehouses and racks is designed to grow," said TeraWulf Chairman and CEO Paul Prager. Just before his company went public through a reverse merger, Prager discussed WULF's sustainable bitcoin mining-focused model in a video interview.
